Today, the pupil parliament children, from across the academy, went on a school trip to the Stoke Civic Hall where they met the Lord Mayor and two local councillors.

Last year’s pupil parliament (Ella Roberts and Williams Snape) passed on the Meir Heath baton to Carly Triner and Lauren Mason, who earned their place back in July 2017.

They all had the chance to ask questions, have a tour of the Lord Mayor’s parlour and they even had two real debates in the Stoke on Trent chambers. The first debate was, ‘Should children attend school at the weekend?’ and the second debate was, ‘Should the age for voting be lowered?’ All children joined in with the debate and stepped out of their comfort zone, sharing their opinions and reasons for their answers. Well done all!
